FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why would I wash my car at your facility when I could wash it at home for free?
There are a few good reasons:
1. A Better Wash
When you use hot water along with top-of-the line soap and professional equipment, you simply get a better spot-free wash.
2. Water Consumption
A self-serve car wash bay uses on average, only 15 gallons of water per washing.
An in-bay car wash might consume 60 gallons of water during a washing.
An old-fashioned conveyor car wash can use 85 gallons of water to clean a car.
A standard garden hose flows at 10 gallons of water every minute; that means a 10-minute car wash at home consumes 100 gallons of water. Using a spray nozzle with an automatic shut off reduces the amount of water used, but water conservation isn't the only reason a commercial car wash is better for our environment.
3. Pollution
When we wash our cars on the street or in our driveways, the soap or chemicals we use make their way into the storm drain system. Storm drains are meant to carry rain water away, that water goes directly into our river and is not treated before re-entering our water systems. Commercial car washes are required to use a sewer system. The waste water is processed at our municipal treatment plant before re-entering our natural water system.
What coins do you accept?
Our coin box accepts loonies and toonies. $2 is required to start the timer, which can be in the form of one toonie or two loonies. Additional coins can be inserted at the start of the cycle or any point prior to the timer hitting 0:00. Once the timer hits 0:00 $2 will be required to re-start. Our coin box also uses tokens. If you would like to purchase tokens, please let us know using the contact form below. Each token has a value of $1.00. Two tokens are required to start the timer and they can be used along with loonies and toonies.
Can I wash my trailer at Johnny Boy's?
Absolutely. Please be sure to check the height of your trailer before entering the wash bay. The clearance height 11 feet and is clearly marked above the bay entrances. We chose not to re-open the outer wash bay at this time. If we find that there is a demand for a second bay, we may install that equipment in the future.
Why do the wands spray without pulling the trigger?
In climates where temperatures drop below freezing, the water lines can freeze. A small amount of continuous flow prevents freezing that can break or damage the water lines and equipment.
Can I vacuum my vehicle at your car wash?
Yes. Our vacuum is located on the outside bay of the car wash. We opted, for the time being, to replace the inside wash equipment only. There is no longer an outside wash bay.
How much clearance does your wash bay have?
The wash bay has a clearance height of 11 feet or 3.3 meters. There are clearance signs located at both the front and back of the wash bay. Please be certain of your vehicle's height before you attempt to enter the bay.
